SOME EXPLANATION REQUIRED

I confess, I just don't get it, and I suppose I need a member of the male community to explain it to me. If an ex-boyfriend was Fabio, why would that be a relationship dealbreaker? I can see how it might cause some short-term pain from intense snickering, but aside from that, what's the deal? As the guy in question was packing and running full speed towards the door, his comment was, "You ask any guy. They'd say the same thing." But he never said what they'd say! So, men of the world, clue me in, ok? Is it his hair? His accent? His book covers? His butter commercials? And if so, what exactly makes a former Fabio a current taboo? Inquiring Tunas want to know!
