Mark my words, this will be a trivia question for years to come. Last night on the 76th Annual Academy Awards, Sting was playing an instrument which made several of us ask "what on earth is that??" The answer my friends, is a Hurdy Gurdy. Thank goodness my boyfriend knew what I meant when I did a search for "folk instrument crank"
Note to self: Ask PBSTuna if Mozart wrote any concertos for these things (with monkey obbligato?). They're probably shelved right next to the bassoons and the water glasses.
