Friday's Feast

It's the 4th-O-July version of Friday's Feast. Time for tasty treats!

Appetizer: Where do you plan to go on vacation this year, or where would you like to go?
Insert knife. Twist handle.
*Sigh* Since I'm just five days BACK from vacation, I'm tragically on the wrong side of the verb. Planned and executed the annual pilgrimage to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Sun. Sand. Ocean. Food. Books. Music. Ferries. Lighthouses. And this year -- lots and lots and lots of animals.

Now, where would I like to go? Easy. Anywhere! However, in the extreme short run, I'd like to magic carpet ride myself to Florida to join TVJ and Cops and sing a rousing chorus of Hello, Dali.

Soup: What color is your bedroom? If you could redecorate it, what would you change?
Insert knife. Twist handle.
At present, the Tuna household is focused on a badly needed upgrade to TinyTuna's bedroom. Why? First and foremost, TinyTuna will be heading off to a 4-day sleep away camp, which gives me full and unfettered access to her STUFF and a dumpster. And then, being the holiday weekend, I thought, "What would George Washington do?" Magic 8-Ball says play The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald or Memories, and then wash, scrape, repair, prime and paint a bedroom Sonata Pink.

But back to my bedroom. What color is it? I don't know. There is too much JUNK piled everywhere to see a color (which I think, once upon a time, was generic white). If I could redecorate it, what would I change? Simple. I'd buy a flamethrower and pile all the JUNK in the middle of the room, topped off by the bag of Barbie-mania. FIRE THE HO!

Do You Have a Bumper Sticker on Your Vehicle? What does it Say?
Nope. Never have. But I enjoy reading others. One of my favorites:

Main Course: What's the Worst Pain You've Ever Been In?
Out of tune singing? Ending sentences with a preposition? Childbirth? Election 2000? Driving the Ohio Turnpike? The possibilities, they are endless. What's important is the remedy.
( Muzzles, Chicago Manual of Style, DRUGS, Canada, Trivia Pursuit cards and a can a Pringles)

Dessert: Who is Your Favorite Celebrity? What do they do that inspires you?
I could spend all day jumping on couches, pumping my arm and telling you who ISN'T my favorite celebrity. I could also wimp out of the question entirely and say I don't have a favorite celebrity, because I really don't. But it occurred to me that I particularly admire Yo-Yo Ma. He is an amazingly diverse musician who has constantly stretched his musical horizons. In addition to standard classical repertoire, Yo-Yo Ma has embraced the folk music traditions of rural America, the distinctive sounds of Brazil and Argentina, and now is focused on The Silk Road Project. He writes on his webpage:

Throughout my travels I have thought about the culture, religions and ideas that have been influential for centuries along the historic land and sea routes that comprised the Silk Road, and have wondered how these complex interconnections occurred and how new musical voices were formed from the diversity of these traditions. (How did an 8th-century Japanese biwa, a pear-shaped stringed instrument, come to be decorated with Persian and Central Asian design, for example?)

In 1998, I founded the Silk Road Project to study the ebb and flow of ideas among different cultures along the Silk Road, illuminating the heritages of its countries and identifying the voices that represent these traditions today. Through this journey of discovery, the Silk Road Project hopes to plant the seeds of new artistic and cultural growth, and to celebrate living traditions and musical voices throughout the world.

To constantly look beyond your own four walls and explore all those forces that brought us to where we are today as a people and a culture is truly inspirational.

Plus, he's been on Sesame Street. And Arthur. How cool is that?

Lemme try this:
Vacation? Um. Tampa? Vegas? Where would I like to go? Um. Wow. Did my mind ever go to a naughty place. Heh. Suffice it to say it involves another set of "TV" initials.

Bedroom color is white with green curtains. If I could re-decorate? Um. I'd have to hire someone, as I have no frikkin' idea. I would like the bed and bedding from the Hard Rock Seminole, though.

No bumper sticker.

Worst pain? Physically? Immediately following an unexpected surgery. I don't ever care to feel like that again. Emotionally? Eh. Let's not go there.

Favorite Celebrity? Huh. I have many celebs that I admire for their talent. At least one or two I wouldn't kick out of bed for eating crackers. And while talent is a definite turn on, I can't think of any that have "inspired" me. Mayhaps I'm too jaded for that?
