Burnt Inchworm

I totally forgot to mention yesterday that it was the Crayola Centennial Celebration. As a part of the festivities, they made a "world's largest crayon" (Blue, if you must know) that was 15 feet long and weighed 1500 pounds. They also retired four crayon colors (Mulberry, Teal Blue, Blizzard Blue and Magic Mint) and introduced four new colors: Inch Worm, Jazzberry Jam, Wild Blue Yonder and Mango Tango. The Crayola site also makes a HUGE deal out of the fact that Burnt Sienna did not get voted out of the box, as it were. Maybe it's just me, but you'd think people would have more important things to worry about. The new names are fun, but sometimes they are less than helpful if you are trying to figure out what color they are. And Burnt Sienna? Wouldn't this color be entirely dependent on how burnt the sienna actually got? Could be tan, could be brown, could be dark brown, could be ash-black for all I know. My car is a veritable Crayola museum, going back to the early days when TinyTuna was a much TinierTuna, and GreenTuna was a very foolish mother who forgot that crayons + cars + hot sun = a melted mess all over the car seat. Live and learn. We no longer do crayons in the car.

It's another gorgeous day here in Tunaville. The Tunas trounced Illinois, so the rioting was kept to a minimum (No. There wasn't any rioting. But around here, you never know). GramTuna and I went and bought some extremely cheap mulch and we are going to blanket our gardens in cedar chips. Smelly good! TinyTuna is keeping a low profile while she keeps one ear out for the phone call of call-backs. I'm thinking it isn't going to happen, but we'll see. And yes, God. I mowed the lawn today.

You may notice a couple of new things on my blogsite. There is a site counter thing, and now a link to send me comments! I must give total credit to Ophelia's blog because I stole every single idea from her site. Hamster Time people are the best!

Two points to ponder before I go outside to play with wood chips:

1. Uber-Auntie Tuna and I stayed up way too late watching the new SNL last night. Guest host AND Musical guest? Justin Timberlake. Question: Who ever told this kid he could sing? We were knee-deep in mockery last night.

2. This weekend appears to be "let's see how many times we can play 'Dances With Wolves' on TNT". I like the movie. I like it a lot. Cinematography, music, story -- all faboo. Question: What happened to Kevin Costner after this movie? Did he shoot his entire creative wad on this one? Because, it seems after this movie came out, it has been a steady string of stink-a-ramas. Just wondering.

"Mows-with-a-Toro" must now dance with the front yard. Ta-Tonka, y'all.
